According to Microsoft, Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) can block over 99.9% of account compromise attacks. It’s also cost-effective, easy to use, and available anywhere.
It’s hard to believe that such a simple security control could have such a positive impact on cybersecurity. Every SME in Australia should be implementing MFA as a minimum security control.
Unfortunately, not everyone is using MFA. While this may primarily be due to a lack of awareness, attack surface complexity is also a significant factor.
The trouble with relying on multiple digital products is that it’s difficult to integrate MFA across all of them seamlessly, especially when working with a diverse range of solutions.
The typical enterprise app library is a combination of different categories of apps, including:
Few MFA solutions can integrate across the entire breadth of such a complex digital surface, but LastPass MFA is one of the best options.
What I particularly like about LastPass MFA is its ability to communicate with the critical components of an IT network – Identity Providers, VPNs, and Servers.
Identity Providers
LastPass MFA adds an additional layer of security to popular identity providers (idPs) like Azure Active Directory and Okta. IdPs are gateways to highly-sensitive resources, so protecting their access is critical.
Virtual Private Networks
LastPass MFA uses a dynamic approach to verifying users. Authentication policies adapt to each user by considering a device’s IP address, geolocation, and usernames and passwords to significantly minimise the potential for unauthorised VPN access.
Servers and Desktop Virtualisations
LastPass MFA integrates with popular servers, including LDAP and RADIUS. It can also secure access to desktop visualisation tools such as Citrix.
In a fast-evolving digital age, I love that LastPass MFA adapts nicely to my library of enterprise apps with minimal complexity.
